CoQ-Gamma E
CoQ-Gamma E
with Tocotrienols & Carotenoids
The Possible Benefits of CoQ-Gamma E, a Dietary Supplement
• Enhances the production of cellular energy (ATP)*
• Protects the mitochondrial membrane against lipid peroxidation*• May enhance the function of the immune system*
• May support energy and physical performance*
CoQ10 is essential for the health of our cells, tissues and organs.* It belongs to a family of lipid soluble ubiquinones, present throughout the body, and it is the predominant CoQ form found in humans. It is most concentrated in cells of the heart, liver, kidney and pancreas. The body’s production of CoQ10 peaks around age 20 and then declines. For many decades, supplemental CoQ10 has been used throughout Europe, Asia and the United States for its support of cellular energy, antioxidant function and cardiovascular health.*
CoQ10 plays an essential role in the mitochondria electron transport chain (ETC), the major metabolic pathway for making energy in every cell of the body. CoQ10 functions as an electron carrier in the ETC, linking the various enzymes of the chain, and the production of ATP is dependent on sufficient levels of CoQ10 in the mitochondrial membrane.
CoQ10 is also an important antioxidant, protecting the mitochondria from free radical damage. The process of electron transport produces oxygen free radicals, which are then trapped by CoQ10 and vitamin E. CoQ10 reduces the initiation and propagation of lipid peroxidation in cell membranes and in lipoprotein fractions, and it works synergistically with vitamin E, helping to spare it.
CoQ10 has been extensively studied for its ability to support cardiovascular function.* Studies suggest that CoQ10 may strengthen the heart muscle, and enhance such things as quality of life, breathing and heart rate.* It supports blood pressure within normal levels, and it may be of benefit to those taking cholesterol-lowering medications, which can reduce blood levels of CoQ10.* It has been shown to potentially support energy, sexual health, gum health, certain immune parameters, aerobic capacity and physical performance.* CoQ10 is well tolerated, with an extensive history of study and safe use.
Tocotrienols are important regulators of blood lipids within normal levels, including total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol.* Tocotrienols have an inhibitory effect on HMG-CoA reductase, the liver enzyme that is critical to the rate at which cholesterol is synthesized. Tocotrienols also show potential to protect blood vessels by preventing the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, and some studies suggest that tocotrienols may be more effective than vitamin E in guarding against the oxidation of cholesterol.* Tocotrienols have been shown to strengthen arterial walls, and to support blood flow through arteries (coronary, carotid, and peripheral).* Research also suggests that tocotrienols may offer some protection from the sun's ultraviolet radiation, working synergistically with tocopherols and helping preserve tocopherols in skin cells.*
Carotenoids are a family of more than 700 naturally-occurring yellow, red and orange pigments found in Vegetables and Fruits. Carotenoids are very important for health and the health benefits of carotenoids in the human diet are becoming increasingly apparent. There've been studies suggest that some carotenoids can offer protection against some cancers, macular eye disease and cardiovascular problems. A higher dietary intake of carotenoids offers protection against developing certain cancers (e.g., lung, skin, uterine, cervix, gastrointestinal tract), macular degeneration, cataracts, and other health conditions linked to oxidative or free radical damage. In addition to being antioxidants, carotenoids also help to rejuventate the body by promoting the growth of healthy cells and inhibiting the growth of unhealthy ones. The beneficial actions of carotenoids are optimal when a variety of carotenoids are consumed together, rather than alone.
Lycopene is a carotenoid responsible for the red color of the tomato, watermelon and pink grapefruit. It has a unique long chain molecular structure containing 13 double bonds, more than any other carotenoid. This configuration is responsible for lycopene's special ability to neutralize free radicals. It protects against breast, skin and prostate cancer. It is a very potent anti-oxidant, detoxifier, and helps inhibit the production of cholesterol. Lycopene is more than twice as powerful as beta-carotene at quenching free radicals.
Lutein is a carotenoid pigment found in many green vegetables, and is usually derived from marigold flower petals. Lutein belongs to the xanthophyll family of carotenoids and is found in high concentrations in the eye, and has been shown to protect against blindness caused by macular degeneration.
Alpha-Lipoic acid is a highly effective, biologically available and well researched antioxidant that works in both the fat and water soluble portions of human cells. Functions of lipoic acid are support of healthy liver regeneration, immune function and circulation, vision and glucose metabolism. In addition, it also supports cardiovascular and neurological health. Being a powerful antioxidant, it protects and repairs cells and reduces damage caused by oxidation. Lipoic acid also enhances the effectiveness of vitamin C and E, two well-known antioxidants.
